This dignified and unusual portrait of a dwarf was taken by the daguerreotypist David Clark of New Brunswick, New Jersey. According to Craig's Daguerreian Registry, Clark was active between 1853, when he exhibited at the New York Crystal Palace, and 1855, when he was last listed at City Daguerreian Gallery of 11 Peace Street (Vol. 2, p. 111).
