David Bond Walker (1891-1977) ERRISBEG SEEN FROM ROUNDSTONE BOG, CONNEMARA signed "Bond Walker" lower right oil on canvas 41 by 51cm., 16 by 20in. Born in Belfast, the son of painter Thomas Bond Walker (1861-1933), he studied both with his father and Hans Iten (1874-1930). In 1920 he was amongst the original ten members of the Belfast Art Society, and in the following year began exhibiting at the RHA in Dublin. During the '20s and '30s he worked mostly at portrait painting. However, during the Second World War he moved to Newcastle, Co. Down and shifted his energies towards landscape painting, teaching, and running a gallery (see Snoddy, pp. 684-5).
