View of Lambeth Palace from the Thames; and View of Old London Bridge with the Thames partially frozen over the first signed and dated 'DANL. TURNER 1805' (lower right) oil on panel 13 x 191/4 in. (33 x 48.8 cm.) a pair (2) (2) NOTES The prominent church steeples in the first view, on the right of the Monument, are (from left to right): St. Magnus, St. Margaret Pattern's and St. Dunstan's-in-the-East. The view of Old London Bridge taken from the southwest was probably painted during the great frost of 1811. Daniel Turner was a best known for his views of London's riverside. He was a pupil of John Jones (c.1740-c.1797), the mezzotint engraver, and lived in Millbank. He exhibited London views at the Royal Academy from 1796-1801.
