NOTE

first edition in french. Girolamo Dandini da Cesena, a Jesuit philosopher and theologian, was sent to Mount Lebanon by Pope Clement VIII in 1596 in an attempt to strengthen the fragile bonds between the Maronites and the Papacy. Chapters 6-8 are devoted to Cyprus.
