Notes

Primoli was an Italian Count, whose mother was Charlotte Bonaparte, niece of Napoleon. Known equally in French and Italian society, he was an enthusiastic photographer using his modern camera to achieve images recognised for their instantaneity and strange, pre-constructivist angles of view. His work is held by the Fondation Primoli in Rome and has been exhibited at the Musée d'Orsay, Paris in the 1989 sesquicentennial celebration of photography, L'invention d'un regard (1839-1918). His photographs rarely appear on the market.

No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 17.5% will be added to the buyer's premium which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis
