Condition Note: Relined. under a dull, dirty old varnish. paint surface is generally well retained and there is nice detail throughout. canvas is slightly buckled at bottom edge. under UV: it is difficult to see through the old varnish. there appears to be some strengthening in the wooden beams of the ceiling and some on the dark folds of man's costume. painting would benefit from a light cleaning and fresh varnish.
