Notes

“Mars and Venus United by Love," a painting by Paolo Veronese from the 1570s, tells the story of cupid joining the goddess of love and the god of war by tying their legs together. In a similarly literal act, Boym uses a reproduction found canvas as the material for this piece, joining the fields of art and design to challenge the division between which has grown steadily in the centuries following the Renaissance.
