The Emperor Charles II bringing Pietro Morrone to Rome to become Pope Celestino V signed, inscribed and dated 'C.M. Metz Roma 1818' and with inscription 'Pietro da Morrone povero ma Santo Romito, Soggionante in una Celletta in mezzo alle montane di Motrone, fu eletto Papa e prese in nome di Celestino V. fu accompaniato da 3 Vescovi, da Carlo II e Carlo Martello suo figliolo tenendo le redini del suo arino, anno 1293' on a label attached to the mount pen and brown ink, brown wash heightened with white (slightly oxidized) on brown paper 15 5/8 x 21 in. (396 x 532 mm.).
