'Vikings Delight is a triangular prism of transparent plastic, in which striped tabs of colour hang concentrated and abstract now: the cage, or vivarium, with the weightless little biomorphs floating inside. They turn in a vacuum, free from gravity, and they seem to be suspended inside the box - there is no picture plane on which they can be located. Each shape shows different colours, depending on which side of the box you see it from. Consequently there is a continuous flicker and shift of colour as you walk round the box; the forms jump and dance backwards and forwards in their vacuum, changing their position and identity all the time. It is a highly sophisticated exercise in illusion and ambiguity' (B. Robertson, Exhibition catalogue, The New Generation, Whitechapel Gallery, London, 1966, p. 46).
