COLEMAN, Edmund Thomas (c. 1823-92). Scenes from the Snow-Fields; being Illustrations of the Upper Ice-World of Mont Blanc, from sketches made on the spot in the years 1855, 1856, 1857, 1858, London: Longman, Brown, Green, Longmans, and Roberts, 1859. 2° (550 x 374mm). 12 chromolithographed plates by Vincent Brooks after E.T. Coleman. (Lower outer corner of most text leaves with very light unobtrusive waterstain.) Contemporary cloth (soiled, repaired along joints with old spine relaid). Provenance: Alice ?Spring Rice (presentation inscription by her father) -- Le Starvan (bookplate).

FIRST EDITION of a fine series of views, dedicated to John Ruskin. Coleman was an artist and mountaineer, who climbed in the Alps and Cascades. Abbey Travel 68; Neate 169.
