Signed with initials and dated, this picture is by an as yet unidentified hand who has drawn inspiration for the central figure on horseback from engravings of Marcus Curtius by Hendrick Goltzius (see 'Prints and Print Designs 1586-1590', in Hendrick Goltzius: Drawings, Prints and Paintings, exhibition catalogue, Zwolle, 2003, pp. 89-92).
