A cabinet-on-stand incorporating a set of 14 paintings, all oil on panel, mounted in a contemporary ebony and ebonised cabinet, on a separate stand of later date

measurements note the cabinet itself: 70.2 by 94.5 cm., 42 cm. in depth; total height: 164 cm.; the set of 10 panels, each: 24 by 9.5 cm.; the set of 2 doors, each: 48.5 by 34 cm.; top: 21.5 by 63.5 cm.; shaped top: 14.5 by 20 cm.

Notes


Although the tradition of painted cabinets reached a high in the 17th Century in Antwerp, this cabinet appears to be of Dutch origin, painted by an Italianate, active in the mid-17th Century.
