PROVENANCE Miss Wynn Williams; sale, Christie's, London, 14 July 1911, lot 5, as 'W. Hogarth' (to F. Holbrooke). with Seligman-Rey, New York, 1932, as George Knapton, from whom purchased by William R. Hearst, New York and Los Angeles, whom gifted to the museum in 1950.
