Circle of Andrea d' Agnolo, called Andrea del Sarto (1486-1530) THE HOLY FAMILY WITH SAINT ELISABETH AND THE INFANT SAINT JOHN THE BAPTIST oil on panel 34 1/2 by 27 3/8 in. 87.6 by 69.5cm. The present painting repeats in composition, with differences and in rectangular format, a work by Andrea del Sarto entitled The Barbadori Holy Family. Another autograph version of this painting is in the Musee du Louvre, Paris (inv.no. 1516). The original painting, now lost, was first recorded by Vasari in the house of Baccio Barbadori, Florence, by whom the painting was perhaps commissioned.
