Chief Zacheus Olowonubi Oloruntoba (Nigeria, 1934-2014) "Mystical Elephants in Village for Wealth and Protection" 1978, oil painting on canvas, signed and dated. Size: 34'' x 48'', 86 x 122 cm (canvas). Provenance: Ambassador Walter Carrington and Dr. Arese Carrington, Massachusetts. Acquired directly from the artist. Ambassador Carrington was US Ambassador to Nigeria from 1993 to 1997. Dr. Arese Carrington is a native Nigerian from the royal family of the Benin Kingdom. She is a member of the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) Boston's Visiting Committee for the Arts of Asia, Oceania, and Africa and played a role in the opening of MFA's Benin bronze gallery.
