Charles Wesley Nicholson (American, California, 1886 - 1965), "Tar Weeds in Wheeler Ridge, California," oil on board, signed lower left, artist's studio label on the verso with title and additional infromation, measures 12 x 16 inches unframed, 14.50 x 18.50 inches framed in an Arts & Crafts carved frame. CONDITION: Good. Nicholson, known for his landscape, seascapes, and occasional rare mission paintings, was born near French Lick, Indiana and studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. He became a popularand successful landscape painter in California.
