Notes

Jane Dorothy Lambton was the eldest daughter of John Lambton of Lambton Castle and his wife Susan, daughter of Thomas, 8th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne, whom he married in 1763. She died unmarried. Her nephew, John George Lambton (1792-1840) was created Baron Durham in 1828 and advanced to the Viscounty of Lambton and the Earldom of Durham in 1833.
