Description

"Ik ben zoo klaar met schuren": a scullery maid at work signed and dated 'CJGrips.f1866.' (lower left) oil on panel 27 x 20.5 cm. EXHIBITION (probably) Zutphen, Tentoonstelling van Leevende Meesters, 1867, no. 45 (with the above title). NOTES The depicted brass objects are mostly 17th century, most notably a Dutch brass candlestick - Kraagkandelaar - and a Dutch pewter - Rembrandt kan -. Compare with the painting from 1865, with slight variations, which was sold at Christie's, London, 16 December 1979, lot 46, ill.
