Notes

Ann was married to John Blagrove of Cardiff Hall, Jamaica; Titchfield, Hants; and Ankerwycke, Berks. Their daughter Eliza married James Bradshaw R.N.
The present lot shows an interesting device favoured by Hayter of linking a 'pair' of portraits by including an image of one of the miniatures within the other. For a pair of portraits of a mother with her daughters and her son by Hayter, where the son holds the other miniature, in the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, cf. Katherine Coombs; The Portrait Miniature in England, London, 1998, p.113.
