Brocktorff often painted this view of the Governor's Palace, and several examples are illustrated in T. Vella, Charles Frederick de Brocktorff: Watercolours of Malta at the National Library, Valletta, Volume II (Valletta, 2008), including an almost identical version (p.47 pl.I.26) in the collection of the Museum of the Order of St John in London. Another similar work, The Grandmaster's Palace on Piazza San Giorgio, was sold in these rooms on 21 May 2008 (lot 154).
