Description

CAVALLI Niccolò (1730-1822) incise da un dipinto del CHIOZZOTTO, MARINETTI Antonio detto il (secolo XVIII) - LA PREPARAZIONE DELLA CERALACCA.

[English description] VENEZIA, second half XVIII century- beginning XVIII century - (448x348 mm ca.) – Engraving; on plate, below the illustration, Latin dedication to Marino Diedo, artists’ names and publishing place. Excellent condition, full margins.

[Italian description] Incisione originale finemente eseguita a bulino su matrice di rame; in lastra, sotto la parte figurata, dedica latina al patrizio veneto e senatore Marino Diedo, nonché indicazione degli artisti e del luogo di esecuzione. L'opera appartiene alla serie delle teste di carattere eseguite dal veneto N. Cavalli con la virtuosistica tecnica del bulino a tagli paralleli: tale tecnica, derivata dal francese Mellan, fu portata al massimo livello nel Veneto da incisori riproduttori quali Faldoni, Pitteri e Cavalli. L'autore, nato a Longarone, si formò presso la bottega di Wagner a Venezia, poi aprì una propria bottega dove lavorarono gli incisori Francesco del Pedro e Pellegrino del Colle. Le teste di carattere e le scene popolari di Cavalli sono derivate da pittori dell'area veneta quali il celebre G. B. Piazzetta, Maggiotto e Marinetti. Lo tavola in esame rappresenta un uomo a mezzo busto, corse un ecclesiastico per la foggia dell'abito e il copricapo, intento a rimestare il contenuto di un vaso di coccio posto a scaldare sulla brace. Secondo Buzzanca il soggetto rappresenta la preparazione della ceralacca. Esemplare in ottimo stato conservativo, fresco e a pieni margini.
