Summer Landscape. Oil on canvas. 61 x 88cm. Monogrammed lower right: MCF. With the artist's address label on the stretcher. Framed.
Maria Casper-Filser studied at the Stuttgart and Munich Academies and was later a member of the German Artists League. Of all the founding members of the artist group "Neue Münchner Secession" in 1913, she was the only woman. In 1925, after becoming the first female painter to receive the title of professor, she participated in the Venice Bienalle in 1928. Casper-Filser's art was considered degenerate (entartet) under the National Socialists.
