A Lady, wearing white dress, short puff sleeves, frill trim around the shoulder line and décollage, long gold gloves, a rose fastened at her left breast, her hair upswept and plaited, parted and curled at the front.
Signed on the obverse Hampeln sourd-muet, gilt-mounted rectangular velvet standing frame.
Oval, 34mm (1 5/16in) high

Notes


The addition of "sourd-muet" after the artist's signature is a reference to the fact that Carl Hampeln was a deaf-mute, as recorded in Blattel's Dictionary of Miniature Painters.
