Condition Note: Scattered abrasions and paintmarks to extremities, particularly to legs of Cupid, one horn of gazelle and neck and left foreleg of gazelle, moderate wear to patina at extremities, scattered spots of verdigris to top of base

Jennewein won the Prix de Rome award for Sculpture in 1916. The model for Cupid and Gazelle was produced during his studies in Rome from 1917-1920. Another cast of this model is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York
