Of conventional form with rounded corners and an overlapping lid, the sparsely sprinkled nashiji ground decorated in gold and silver takamakie with thatched dwellings nestled amongst a thicket of pine and bamboo, the lower section with two bands of stylised clouds, the bamboo leaves' design extending over all the sides of the lid and box, the kikumon appearing prominently at the top of the lid, containing en-suite, removable trays for an ink-stone, a silvered-metal mizuire (water-dropper) chased with stylised waves, an ink-stick holder, a spike, a knife, and two brushes with nashiji holders and silver fittings, the underside and interior of dense and rich nashiji, the rims of both box and lid of silver, the underside signed in gold takamakie, Ryushin kinsei with seal Ryushin; with wood storage box. 4cm x 24.4cm x 21.3cm (1 9/16in x 9 5/8in x 8 3/8in).
