1146. HAROLD BURTON (1888- 1964) Associate Justice of the Supreme Court. Fine content T.L.S. on U.S. Senate letterhead, 1p. 4to., Washington, July 19, 1942, to Joseph Leib in the National Press Building, in part: "...This will acknowledge with thanks your letter...sent to me at the Dodge Hotel as to the H.R. 6484 relating to the suspension of the Statutes of Limitation affecting Frauds against the Government...It seemed to me an appropriate case for action and I was glad to assist in pushing it through promptly. Senator Van Nuys, Chairman of the Committee on the Judiciary, indicated that he thought it should have prompt action...We felt it necessary in the Committee...to amend the act slightly so as to give it more definiteness...Owing to this amendment, it will be necessary for the House of Representatives to take action upon it...". Handsomely matted with a portrait of Burton, and ready to frame. Very good condition. $75-100
