Edmond Demirdjian (1951-2009) Edmond Agop Demirdjian is a Bulgarian artist and musician of Armenian origin who lived and worked in Bulgaria and the United States. Born 1951 In the city of Sofia. In 1971 he graduated from the Art School in Sofia. In 1978 he graduated from the National Academy of Art in Sofia, in the Mural painting Department, in the studio of Prof. Dimo Zaimov. Since then he has been actively involved in artistic life in Bulgaria and abroad. Works in the field of painting, collage, painting and graphics. He has organized individual exhibitions in Sofia, Varna, Plovdiv, Rome, Brussels, Vienna, Linz, Stockholm, New York, Kansas City and others. Awarded a prize by the American Pollock-Krasner Foundation for artists with special merits in art. In 2006 he was awarded the Sofia Prize for outstanding artistic and cultural merit for the exhibition “Not shown by Edmond”, a gallery on 6, Shipka Street, Sofia His paintings are in all the state galleries in Bulgaria, as well as In many private collections. His work is divided into several periods: 1971-1983 – he creates figurative compositions, interiors and still-life in a constructivist manner; 1983-1987 – painted mostly grotesque figure compositions with temperament in expressionist style; After 1987 he developed his creativity in the direction of fantastic expressionism.
