Lot 227: Brien, Louis (1941 - ), Canadian; "Maison de bois" 25/30, coloured silkscreen print Louis Brien was born and raised in Amos PQ until he graduated and then attended l’Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Montreal, Quebec University and le Centre de Gravure in Geneva, Switzerland. In 1972 he began teaching in Abitibi-Temiskamingue where he stayed until 1981. He is a long-time member of the Corporation des Artisans de Rouyn, a co-founder of l’Atelier le Mille Feuilles and a life-time member of the Council Quebecois de l’estampe (Printmaking). His main interests are in painting and printmaking. He has a particular interest in regional history. He and his wife, Louise reside at his home/studio in Rouyn-Noranda, PQ.
