4to (8 x 5 3/4 in.; 203 x147 mm). Types: 145 (title, headlines); 89 (text), 35 lines and headline, shoulder notes. Collation : A-B6 C-H4.6 I-K4 L-V6.4 x-y6: 112 leaves, numbered 1-116, with errors. 119 woodcut text illustrations (80 total blocks with 39 repeats). Occasional spotting, expert repairs to lower right corners of H2 and P1, short tear touching headline of T4, some headlines shaved or cropped after quire R. Nineteenth-century green morocco panelled gilt, smooth spine richly gilt, marbled endpapers, top edges gilt; boards detached, head of spine perished.

CATALOGUE NOTE

A reprint of the 1 March 1497 Latin edition, printed in Basel by Johann Bergmann, but omitting the original colophon and using the blocks of Grüninger's 1494 German edition (all but Schramm 169, 227, and 233). There are also nineteen blocks that were not used in Grüninger's earlier edition: H5r, H6r, H6v, I4v, K4r, L6r, M2v, M4v, N5r, P1r, P6v, Qer, Q4r, T1r, T2v, T4r, V2v, V3v, and V4r.
