Bowler, Thomas W. (1812-1869) PANORAMA OF CAPE TOWN AND SURROUNDING SCENERY London: Ackerman & Co., 1844 coloured lithograph, with the legend below the title 'Dedicated by permission to his Honour Charles Henry Darling, Lieut. Governor of the Colony by his obedient servant T. W. Bowler' and coat of arms 116 by 34cm Appropriately framed, foxing to borders and to sky portion but this is relatively unobtrusive and hardly detracts from this magnificent vista of this very attractive lithograph. Browning line top to bottom in two places which confirms Bowler's original intention that it should be viewed, as it would appear when folded around so the ends of the picture meet and thus form a complete panorama.
