xi, 552, [2] + [2] ad pp. Illustrated with 48 plates (including frontispiece with tissue-guard) from photographs of characters and scenes of the play performed at the Broadway Theatre in New York on November 29, 1899. 8x5 3/4, original decorative green cloth stamped in light green, orange and gilt, pictorial cover onlay of the character playing the role of Ben Hur, lettered in gilt, top edge gilt, other edges untrimmed. "The Player's Edition."

Includes related ephemera items, including: 5 leaves from a biography on Wallace (illustrated from 8 photographs). * Newspaper clipping showing the cast of characters and scene synopsis' from a Klaw & Erlanger's production of Ben-Hur performed under the direction of Joseph Brooks on Oct. 6, 1902 at the Euclid Ave. Opera House (presumably in Cleveland), measuring 10"x5 1/4 " and tipped-in on the rear pastedown. * 23-page catalogue study on General Lew Wallace with 2 photo plates and rubberstamp of Walter D. Elliott (Custodian at Gen. Lew Wallace Place), c. 1902. * Ben-Hur Souvenir Album (10"x12," saddle sewn color pictorial wrappers) with 17 plates from photographic scenes from a play version and music scores throughout. * MGM Presents Ben-Hur: A Short History of this Mighty Production. With photos. 12x9, color pictorial wrappers (nearly dis-bound with covers almost detached, brown stains and residue spots on cover margins). 1926. * Ben-Hur March. Arranged by Charles Ball and composed by J.H. Cody. 3-pages of music sheets. With ad for Ben-Hur Bicycles. 14x11, loose sheets (last leaf dampstained). [c.1900].

Crease on spine, light shelf wear; faint offsetting on rear free endpaper; larger ephemera booklets with some chipping and tears to edges, general soiling and other light wear; volume in very good to near fine condition.
