BAYERN Franz von Stuck (1863 - 1928) - personal seal of the Munich painter and sculptor Silver in the form of an angel blowing a horn. The silver seal matrix with the cut coat of arms of Franz von Stuck in the form of a centaur. Height 11.5 cm weight 145 g. Franz von Stuck ranks among von Lenbach and von Kaulbach as one of the most famous Munich painters of his time. By establishing the Munich Secession in 1892 von Stuck distances himself from von Lenbach's conservative and traditionalist approach. He became professor at the Munich art academy in 1895 and was a teacher of Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee there. His first sculpture was the wounded centaur in 1891 he received the Order of Merit of the Bavarian Crown in 1906 and was awarded shortly before his death in 1928 the honorary doctorate of the TU Munich for the Villa Stuck which he had completed in 1898. With two seal imprints the former inventory card and a copy of a press release from the former museum director with information on the exhibition in which this seal is mentioned.
