Notes

Originally from Suzhou, Huang Jun was a Qing dynasty artist who painted landscapes, flowers, and plum blossoms. Huang Jun's brushwork was very bold and resembled that of Wang Zhuan (1623-1709). His poetry followed the style of the late Tang dynasty and his calligraphy imitated the style of Zhao Mengfu. While selling paintings was not especially profitable for Huang Jun, he did not mind living in poverty to pursue his artistic endeavors. He always considered himself a recluse, even though he served as an official for twenty years.
