Item Overview

Description

Autographs: Nickolas Muray
Hungarian-born American photographer and Olympic fencer (1892-1965), Muray was a celebrated portrait photographer, his work gracing the pages of Harper's Bazaar, Vanity Fair, Vogue, Ladies' Home Journal, and The New York Times. TLS signed "Nick," one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, February 8, 1933. Muray writes to radio broadcast pioneer, Carl Haverlin, in full: "I have now obtained the necessary permission to reproduce the prints you have on hand. The roast beef and salad prints will require credit lines for both Frigidaire and The Geyer Company. The interior, the toys and the portrait of Rosamond Pinchot must say 'Reproduced Courtesy of Ladies Home Journal, C. P. Co.' The girl in white fur only needs a credit line to myself, and of course you understand that I get a credit line on any of the other prints reproduced." A few rusty staple marks at the top left corner, and a small burn mark and area of paper loss at the bottom, otherwise fine condition. The first item by Muray we've ever offered.
