Autograph: August Strindberg - Important Swedish novelist and playwright (1849-1912) who takes a place among the most influential figures in the development of modern theater. His best-known works include Miss Julie, The Dance of Death, and A Dream Play. Superlative 4.25 x 6.5 bevel-edged cabinet portrait by Lina Tonn of Lund, showing Strindberg in a bow tie and a bearing a weary, acerbic look, boldly signed "August Strindberg" in red fountain pen. A bit of unobtrusive light residue along extreme right edge, otherwise fine condition. A rare signed photo, a priceless expression. Provenance: The Barry Hoffman Collection.
