Description

Signed Ate Debay Bronze, golden brown patination 44 cm (17 1/4 in) Debay exhibited the marble at the Salon of 1845 (no. 2070) and at the Exposition Universelle of 1855 (no. 4314). It subsequently belonged to Prince Demidoff and was sold in the sale of San Donato in Florence for FF13500 in 1870. There are plasters in the musems at Angers and in Brussels, Literature: S. Lami, Dictionnaire des sculpteurs... au dix-neuvieme siecle, vol. II, p. 133 Salle des Arts, Monte Carlo, "Sculpture Passion"; Exposition de la collection...de M. Jacques Ginepro, Monaco, 1990, p. 98.
