ATTRIBUTED TO THOMAS WOODBURN (fl. c.1766), AFTER VERNET Night Harbour Scene Oil on canvas, 85 x 120cm Vernet who was married to the daughter of an Irish naval officer Captain Parker, who commanded the Papal Squadron, came to the notice of Joseph Leeson, in Rome, who commissioned the Four Times of Day series for Russborough. These were greatly admired and were copied by ''Woodburn'' for Lord Bective of Headfort (private collection) Strickland records a Moonlight copy by Woodburn after Vernet belonging to Major Tottenham of Woodstock, Co. Wicklow Provenance: Carrigglas Manor, Co. Longford
