We are grateful to Fred Meijer of the RKD for proposing the attribution on the basis of photographs. The picture presents a prestigious luxury item, a German silver-gilt, lobed, gourd-shaped cup and cover with a warrior finial holding a pike and shield, the shield engraved with the ownership initials PB with a cross device between, probably a Nuremberg goldsmith's work of circa 1620.
