A Lady, wearing black dress and shawl, a gold chain suspended from her neck and intertwined with her knotted black handkerchief pinned to her bodice with a gold-mounted brooch, the back of her raven hair upswept into a knot, the front parted and curled in ringlets framing her face (cracked). Rectangular ormulu frame with gilt-metal slip. Oval, 101mm (4in) high Provenance: Bonhams, London, 19 June 1996, lot 155.
