Two other works of similar dimensions, previously at the Toledo
Museum of Art and sold at Sotheby’s London on 7 December 2006,
lot 122, formed part of the same altarpiece as the present painting.
A further panel depicting Juliana selecting the bones of Stephen is
now in the Springfield Museum of Fine Arts, Mass. All are believed to
have been executed for the monastery of Valparaiso in the province of
Zamora and later moved to the parish church of Fuentelcarñero, also in
the province of Zamora.
