ATTRIBUTED TO FREDERICK A. BUTMAN (1820-1871): PANORAMIC LANDSCAPE Oil on canvas, relined, 36 x 56 in., signed. Note Born in Maine, Butman was one of the first artists to travel and paint in California He exhibited the earliest known paintings of Yosemite. His favorite subjects included the Columbia River, The High Sierras, Mt. Shasta, Mt. Hood and Lake Tahoe. Back East he was also known for his paintings of the Androscoggin and Bear Rivers and the Presidential Range.
