Hinge mounted. The lower half of the drawing has been laid down on to an 18th Century sheet and the join between the two sheets runs horizontally across the centre of the composition. The iron gall ink has eaten away at certain areas of the sheet, most notably at the top of the tree trunk. There is some light staining and surface dirt throughout and a rectangular stain showing through as a result of an old piece of adhesive tape, verso. The image itself is strong throughout. Sold in a gilt wood frame.
