A landscape painter and an established etcher, Crescenzio Onofri was one of the closest pupils and assistants of Gaspard Dughet, with whom he collaborated. Onofri worked for about 20 years in Rome, and was deeply influenced by his style. It is known that Onofri collaborated with various artists who painted figures for his landscapes: in the present picture, the group of figures on the left might be by a different hand, possibly by Filippo Lauri.
