Attributed to Anthony Highmore (1718-1799) Unfinished study of a lady, standing, wearing period costume and blue bonnet Extensively inscribed on an exhibition label verso, pencil and watercolour, 10.5cm by 6.5cm, provenance: Abbott & Holder Ltd, 30 Museum Street, London and numbered 67314; And five further examples, one said to be attributed to Sir John Everett Millais, portrait of Effie's mother (Mrs Gray), provenance: The Little Gallery, 5 Kensington Church Walk, London; a study of a young boy stealing young birds from a nest, a dog nearby, pencil, pen and watercolour, oval; various studies on one sheet, including a portrait of Agnes Brown, said to be by John Brown, her brother; study of a mouse and other faces; portrait study of an elegantly dressed gentleman, unfinished, signed and dated H Hull 1825; and portrait of a young boy, standing, wearing a blue costume and blue hat with decorative lace collar, an extensive landscape beyond with sheep grazing nearby, in an ornately decorated gilt plaster and wooden frame, various sizes (6)
