Louis Dorigny naît à Paris, fils du peintre Michel Dorigny, élève et gendre de Simon Vouet, et de la fille de ce dernier, Jeanne-Angélique.
Il se forme auprès de son père, alors directeur de l’Académie royale de peinture et de sculpture, puis, à la mort de celui-ci, auprès de Charles Le Brun.
Admis à l’Académie, il part en Italie vers 1672.
Après quatre années à Rome où il copie les œuvres des plus grands maîtres, il séjourne à Foligno, Gubbio et Livourne, et s’installe enfin, en 1678, à Venise, où ses talents de fresquiste peuvent s’exercer dans les plus beaux palais.
A la fin des années 1680, il quitte la cité des Doges pour Vérone, où il s’établit définitivement, s’en absentant ponctuellement pour se rendre à Paris, entre 1704 et 1706, à Vienne à la demande du prince Eugène de Savoie en 1711, ou encore à Prague.


Dans notre composition, Vénus follement éprise d’Adonis, tente vainement de le retenir alors que celui-ci veut partir à la chasse.
Cette chasse au sanglier lui sera fatale, confirmant les sombres pressentiments de Vénus.
Adonis cherche à se dégager des bras de la déesse, tandis que de petits amours repoussent les chiens impatients.

The ivory lots are made of ivory of Elephantidae spp.

They are therefore subject to regulation (CITES) and in view of their oldness they could benefit of exception rule of EC Regulation 338/97, in Article 2.

The specimens listed in Appendix I / A are called pre-Convention specimens was earlier and more precisely since 1947 and worked extensively modified.

The parameters outlined above allow the commercial use of these specimens within the EU.

However to an exit from the EU CITES export a pre-convention is needed to comply with the Act.

These administrative procedures will be made by the purchaser to the DREAL organization.

Une exposition préalable permettant aux acquéreurs de se rendre compte de l'état des objets mis en vente,
il ne sera admis aucune réclamation une fois l'adjudication prononcée.

Les dimensions et les estimations sont communiquées à titre indicatif.

L'état des cadres n'est pas garanti, les restaurations d'usage et réentoilages sont considérés comme des mesures
conservatoires n'entrainant pas de dépréciation.

2. Il est conseillé aux adjudicataires de procéder à l'enlèvement de leurs lots dans les meilleurs délais afin d'éviter
les frais de manutention et de gardiennage, qui sont à leur charge.
Le magasinage n'engage pas la responsabilité du commissaire-priseur à quelque titre que ce soit.

3. Le plus offrant et dernier enchérisseur sera l'adjudicataire.
En cas de double enchère reconnue effective par le commissaire-priseur, l'objet sera remis en vente,
tous les amateurs présents pouvant concourir à cette deuxième mise en adjudication.

4. Frais de vente : 21.6% TTC en sus des enchères.
La vente sera faite au comptant.

5. En cas de vente par un vendeur assujetti à la marge, il ne sera délivré aucun document faisant ressortir la T.V.A.

6. Le commissaire-priseur et les experts peuvent éxécuter tout ordre d'achat sans frais supplémentaire. Si un acquéreur
souhaite enchérir par téléphone, il convient d'en faire la demande par écrit accompagnée d'un relevé d'identité.

7. En cas de paiement par chèque par l'adjudicataire, le transfert de propriété de l'objet n'aura lieu qu'après
encaissement du chèque.

En cas de paiement par chèque non certifié, le retrait des objets pourra être différé jusqu'à encaissement.
Les clients non résidents en France ne pourront prendre livraison de leurs achats qu'après un réglement bancaire
par SWIFT.

A défaut de paiement par chèque ou en espèces, l'objet pourra être remis en adjudication sur folle enchère
immédiatement ou à la première opportunité.

8. Ordres d'achat - Enchères par téléphone :
Les ordres d'achat et les demandes d'enchères par téléphone doivent parvenir à la maison de ventes ou chez les
experts par écrit et au plus tard quatre jours avant la vente.

Les ordres d'achats et enchères par téléphone étant de simples facilités ne peuvent engager, en cas d'inexécution
ou de mauvaise exécution, la responsabilité du commissaire-priseur ou des experts à quelque titre que ce soit.

9. Retrait des achats

Il est conseillé aux adjudicataires de procéder à un enlèvement de leurs lots dans les meilleurs délais afin d'éviter les
frais de magasinage qui sont à leur charge ( Drouot ). Le magasinage n'entraîne pas la responsabilité du commisssaire-priseur ni
des experts à quelque titre que ce soit. En cas de paiement par chèque ou par virement, la délivrance des objets
pourra être différée jusqu'à l'encaissement. Dès l'adjudication, l'objet sera sous l'entière responsabilité de l'adjudicataire.


L'acquéreur sera lui-même chargé de faire assurer ses acquisitions, et la maison de vente jean-claude renard s.a.s.
décline toute responsabilité quant aux dommages que l'objet pourrait encourir et ceci dès l'adjudication prononcée.
La formalité de licence d'exportation peut requérir un délai de cinq à dix semaines, celui-ci pouvant être
sensiblement réduit selon la rapidité avec laquelle l'acquéreur précisera ses instructions à l'étude.

All lots in the Catalog may be subject to a reserve (a confidential minimum price below which the lot will not ordinarily be sold). We as the Agent for Consignor may place bids during the auction if and when the highest outstanding bid at any time during the sale is below the reserve which may have been established on the lot being offered. Consignors are not allowed to bid on their own property.

Contract

SVV JCRENARD is a company operating in the voluntary sales of movables by public auction governed by the law of 10 July 2000.

Sales are subject to the terms described in this catalogue and it is important that the terms of sale are read carefully.

The terms may be amended at any time by any posted notices or oral announcements during the sale by the person authorized to direct the sale or by the expert.

SVV JCRENARD acts as agent of the seller and exclusively on behalf of the seller. Any contract of sale is concluded directly between seller and buyer.

The sale will be settled entirely upfront and conducted in Euros. A currency converter will be installed.

SVV JCRENARD shall not be held liable for any conversion errors that might occur on the conversion screen.

In addition to the contract price, the buyer will pay a purchase fee of 25% including taxes + 3% internet fee per lot.

Payment

Payment for purchases as well as that of any taxes applicable there to shall be made in Euros in the following ways:
In cash: up to 3000 € fees and taxes included for French nationals, up to 15000 € fees and taxes included for foreign nationals on presentation
of a document establishing with certainty their actual residence.
By bank check or wire transfer
By credit card.


In the event that the buyer fails to pay the full price within 30 days after the sale, SVV JC RENARD will comply with instructions from the
seller and assist wherever possible in the execution of his instructions, or more particularly the recovery of the purchase price or cancellation
of the sale.
In the event of non-payment of the bid and of the associated costs, a notice will be sent to the buyer by registered letter with acknowledgment
of receipt. At the expiry of one month after notice and failure to pay the amount due, the buyer will additionally have to pay the recovery
costs and an additional fee of 10% at a minimum of 250 €. The application of this clause shall not preclude the allocation of damages and
reimbursement of litigation costs and fees required.

Premium

In addition to the "hammer price," the buyer must pay the auction house a buyer's premium and any applicable taxes as follows:

-Buyer's Premium : 21.6% including taxes

-VAT shall be charged at the rate of 19.6% (5.5% for books).

-Items originating from a country outside the European Union. In addition to the regular buyer's premium, an import tax of 5.5 % will be charged to the buyer. In addition to the regular buyer's premium, an import tax of 19.6% will be charged to the buyer.

-Internet Fee: The buyer must pay SVV JC RENARD, in addition to the "hammer price", an Internet commission of3%.

The full amount due must be paid immediately after the sale, even if the buyer wishes to apply for an export license.
