Artus Quellinus the Elder (1609 -1668) - A figure of St. Catherine,17th Cent., depicted standing atop a plinth, the head slightly inclined to one side, the eyes closed, the lips parted, the youthful features showing a transfigured expression, wearing a floor-length robe and a knee-length frock with fringed hem and elaborate cuffs, the cloak draped into plane folds, a wheel at her feet, limewood, carved in the round, Height: 45 cm, both hands, part of the wheel, and the sword lacking, shrinkage cracks partly repaired, a sculpture of quality by Quellinus circa 1660, Antwerp, (Er)Expert's report by Heinrich Decker.
