Decker Mocambo Nightclub: Signed and dated lower right: John Decker '44 (1895-1947 Los Angeles, CA), signed again and titled on a label affixed to the frame verso: ''Pigs in Clover'', view of the Mocambo Nightclub, Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood from the alley, oil on canvas, 44'' H x 52'' W, . Note: The Mocambo Nightclub opened in 1941 and was an immediate success. It quickly became one of the most popular dance clubs in Los Angeles and it is likely that Artie Shaw played there. Condition Report

Visual: Canvas is loose on the stretchers with instability and losses throughout, particularly in the center and the upper center quadrants. Largest area of loss is a star-shaped loss approximately 2" wide. Painting was painted over another painting visible in the areas of loss. Blacklight: Some apparent areas of amateur touchup on losses. Some scattered touchup along the edges including the lower right corner. Uneven varnish.
