Notes

Born in 1882, noted philanthropist and financier Percy Rivington Pyne II was a member of one of New York's most distinguished families, his grandfather and namesake had been president of the National Bank of New York (today Citibank). Pyne, a graduate of Princeton University, excelled in the banking and railroad industries. In 1910, he commissioned the prominent New York firm of McKim, Mead & White to design his Georgian style townhouse at 680 Park Avenue. The Pyne House, as it was known, was eventually purchased by David Rockefeller in the 1960s and declared a New York historical landmark. Today it is the home of the Americas Society, a highly regarded organization in the field of Latin American art.
