Notes

PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE EUROPEAN COLLECTION

Wakley worked in both oil and watercolours. He was influenced heavily by the Pre-Raphaelite aesthetic of Burne-Jones and De Morgan. He showed a great deal of potential but was found brutally murdered in his water closet, probably by a soldier he had met.

No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 17.5% will be added to the buyer's premium, which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis.
