Arcangelo Foschini was the son of Francesco Foschini, an Italian painter who had settled in Lisbon. Student of Joachim Manoel da Rocha, Foschini travelled in Italy with Sequeira. He was back in Lisbon in 1798 and was nominated professor of painting and drawing to Prince Pedro Carlos. He collaborated along with Sequeira, Vieira Portuense and Cunha Taborda for the decoration of the palace of Ajuda but most of his work there has since been destroyed.
The drawings by Foschini in this group were signed with the Portuguese translation of his name 'Fusquini'.
